Mine Hosts Carol & Mike bought the pub, which had been closed for 9 months, in March of
last year. We were then closed for a further 3 months whilst refurbishment took place. We have never been in the licensed
trade before, but we both have a sales & marketing background. Carols flair for design has transformed the pub into something
which draws many, many compliments from our customers. Our feeling about the pub is to present & run it in a
manner that over the years we would have like to have seen in other establishments. We have a strict no swearing policy that
appeals to all our customers ( in the words of the Northern Echo's food critic " halleluja "), our background music
is mainly from the Rat Pack, Tony Bennett, Perry Como etc. & we recieve many compliments on how relaxing the
mood is in our restaurant. A major pet hate of ours in the past has been the presenting of drinks in glasses that are
not suitable.All of our ladies drinks are served in Ladies glasses & our spirits are served in cut glass tumblers with
plenty of ice & lemon, just like you would drink at home !
Carols son Craig, pictured here with his wife & some of our waitresses, is front of house and
is a favourite with the ladies. Nothing is too much trouble and he has the knack of making people feel at ease. We wonder
if thats one of the reasons the Darlington & Stockton Times food critic gave us 100% for service?...along with 100% for
surroundings !
